Stunning Hope

O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me.

But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more. Psalm 71:12,14

Everything will try to wear us down but nothing has the right to change what God called us to do. There is no reason to give in just because we are unable to change the situation.

The enemy will ridicule, lie and oppose – that’s his role and he will play well. We can’t pray to God that enemy will quit doing his job or change his mind, but we must learn to pay no-attention to him and his threats.

When we know God alone can deliver us, why we should allow the enemy to wear us down? When we know God is faithful and He won’t delay, why we urge Him to hurry? When we know the enemy is determined to destroy our hope, why should we give up our hope?

We must continue to hope in God because it is the best way to frustrate the enemy. We must praise our God more and more because it is the best way to torment the enemy!

Say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:4

The love mandate

“You must love the Lord your God and obey all his requirements, decrees, regulations, and commands. Keep in mind that I am not talking now to your children…” Deut 11:1-2

Loving the Lord and obeying the Lord – both goes hand-in-hand. It won’t last very long when we tried to do just one of these and not the other.

The genuine love towards God is not in us, but develops as we learn to obey. Like wise willingness to obey God comes when we fall in love with Him.

Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him. Deut 11:22

The love Christ Jesus constantly expressed towards the Father (recorded all thru’ the books of Gospel) there’s no way to separate His love from His obedience, rather they were so intertwined.

Love has to be worked out to perfection, perfected love has to be constantly expressed – obedience is what we work to perfect our love towards God and obedience is how we express the love developed.

God deserves all of our love and obedience because of what He did, doing and will do!

Shine the secrets!

“So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” Luke 8:18

  • Hearing God’s word is openly available to all public (Luke 8:4-8, Proverb 1:20) .
  • Listening to God’s word is a choice the individual has to make (Luke 8:13-15).
  • Understanding God’s word is a secret restricted to those who desire to know & depend on God’s Spirit (Luke 8:15, Isaiah 11:2).

Understanding never comes easily. Someone wrote “Everyone hears only what he understands”.

The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130

Understanding gained in us, in turn becomes the light in us that shines thru’ us and brings those in darkness to The True Light “Jesus Christ” (John 1:19).

“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.” Luke 8:16-17

Understanding in us shines that which was hidden as secret to all! Let’s pay attention to how we hear – the starting point to gain understanding.

The feet of Jesus

One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair.

Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them. Luke 7:36-38

The realization of our sinful nature is the beginning of a hunger for God’s holiness and willingness to crucify our flesh.

The iniquity discovered and the inability to control it by oneself are the drivers to the feet of Jesus.

The feet of Jesus is the only place a sinful human being can dare to touch, anoint, weep, wipe and worship speechless – in a unique language only the Holy God and a repenting heart could understand. This is where we would get unashamed, sweetly broken, known, forgiven, justified and begin a true love towards God.

The key for deliverance is keep kissing the feet of Jesus and grow in loving Him more and more.

Serve the Lord with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalm 2:11-12

Pass the blessing!

In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’ Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. The Lord did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes…” Deuteronomy 6:20-22

It is a beginning of a generational blessing when our children are challenged by how we obey the Lord, and start to ask us what made us to obey God the way we obey Him.

It would be an exciting time to tell to our own children that we are not religious but we have a great testimony of the goodness of God in our lives!

“The Lord’s blessing is for thousand generations” is not an automatic thing, but utilizing opportunities like this to exalt the Lord and instruct them to walk/taste and see that the Lord is good.

“…to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives…” Deuteronomy 6:24

Challenge is to live a consistent God fearing life and not be caught as a hypocrite.

Loving->Trusting->Inheriting

I will give the land to your little ones—your innocent children. You were afraid they would be captured, but they will be the ones who occupy it. As for you, turn around now and go on back through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.  Deuteronomy 1:39-40

The more we love someone the more we will be able to trust them. Our level of trust in the Lord directly proportionate to how much we love Him.

If the Lord is not our first love, we struggle trusting Him especially the future of our children.

As a believer we confess that Lord has a plan for each one of our children, but we constantly make plans and make decisions to secure their future giving no regards to the will of God for their lives. More importantly we don’t trust God’s plan is the best for our children.

This was the issue with Israelites, these men were not afraid of their lives but they were genuinely afraid of losing their children and wives. In human point of view we could say these were loving fathers and husbands, but in God’s point of view they were cowards and rebellion not wanting to trust God to lead them into the land He promised!

Moses, Joshua and Caleb were different not because they don’t care about their families and their protection, but they loved the Lord with all their hearts and was able to trust Him to protect every inch of the way.

If we want to enter the promise land with our children and wives we must put Him first, love Him the most and trust Him as the best! Otherwise, we would make our own children to wander with us in the wilderness – unnecessarily.

Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper… Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever… Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing… Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land. Psalm 37:3, 18, 25, 34

Take ’em to Jesus

One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby.
Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd. So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Luke 5:17a, 18-19

There is a time for everything! Only those that are tuned to God’s Spirit could do what He wants now!

This passage had recorded that many religious leaders and people crowded to listen to Christ’s teaching – nothing wrong with that but what the crowd failed to do was give way for the supernatural work the Lord had to do.

Crowd failed to notice the healing power that was flowing –

And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus. Luke 5:17b

On the other hand, those “some men” exactly knew what had to be done! For such a strong healing power flowing from the Lord requires bringing in some one in need of supernatural healing. Those “some men” creeped out of the crowd, found the paralyzed man laying on the mat and carried him, found no way to creep in back to Jesus room – so they broke the roof and lowered him right in front of Lord Jesus. That’s responding wholly to the prompt of the Holy Spirit!

Yes, the religious leaders were angry, the spectators blocking the hallway were jealous, but the Lord was exceedingly excited to look at their faith!

Is there anything impossible for God? Our faith in Jesus will heal any sickness and bondages that’s in anyone; all we need to do is act upon when He prompt us (being sensitive to the Holy Spirit) and be willing to offend the religious spirit, and not be afraid to put purpose before tradition. Then there is a celebration in heaven!
