Occupy your street

Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’ (Deuteronomy 1:21 NLT)

The closer we get to the promise land the more difficult it appears to be possessed.

Everything will oppose us to make us believe that we got the wrong address and mistaken this to be our promised land. Don’t be discouraged, take heart and move forward. Don’t be afraid.

God already prepared the land for you even before these current occupants moved in. You’re not going to take their land by driving them out, but you’re going to take back your land by driving them out. You must have the sense of ownership and this authority when you fight.

Let’s pay attention to what His Spirit says again –

Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’ (Deuteronomy 1:21 NLT)

The wild spreading joy!

Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child (Jesus) is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, but he will be a joy to many others… As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.” (Luke 2:34-35 NLT)

The words, works and the life of Jesus – a mere 3 years and few months of His ministry had changed the whole world!

Religion had collapsed, kingdom had collapsed, people were willing to die, worst outcasts lives were changed 180 degree for good, unheard thousands of miracles started to happen in His Name and His gospel had become the fire in the bones of countless.

On other side, religious became murderers, so thought pious saints were found to be cults, God’s commandments had been redefined and all were put in severe need of true hope in God that Jesus had revealed!

It’s been more than 2000 years now, the fire in bones of those who believed has only became much greater and wildly spreading, His truth has become much clear, His hope has been realized overwhelmingly and embraced more earnestly, faith is understood, fear is fought, forgiveness is received, families and nations that never thought will serve Him has declared “Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and only Hope. Jesus Christ is indeed the Way, the Life and the Truth!”

In His Name, many are been set free, healed, restored, equipped, appointed and sent to release His joy to every hopeless, depressed, oppressed and possessed!

Jesus, the King of Righteous and Truth reigns!

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God… Luke 15:7

A thorough preparation!

John grew up and became strong in spirit. And he lived in the wilderness until he began his public ministry to Israel. (Luke 1:80 NLT)

John right from his childhood lived up to His motto, “He (God) must increase and I (soul) must decrease!”.

The “I” he knew was his soul, which is his self will, emotion and intellect – these he made sure decrease; meaning these will not be strong enough to overcome his decisions and purpose for his life!

For this reason, he forced himself to live in wilderness where there is not much appetite for his flesh and until his soul (self will, emotions and intellect) submits to his calling.

As soon as he dominated his self, his spirit became strong by the power of God’s Spirit and His word – sharp enough to discern and pinpoint accurately the Lamb of God Jesus Christ, the Messiah to the whole world!

A great preparation was needed for that great calling and the great life of John the Baptist, it wasn’t automatic because God said so. Are we getting ready?

You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth. And he will turn many Israelites to the Lord their God. He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.” Luke 1:14-17

The burning burdens

I will come down and talk to you there. I will take some of the Spirit that is upon you, and I will put the Spirit upon them also. They will bear the burden of the people along with you, so you will not have to carry it alone. (Numbers 11:17 NLT)

Without a doubt delegation is a leadership skill to efficiently lead the people. But when it comes to the burden for the people – there is nothing we could do to delegate or share.

Such burden can’t be taught or trained. No words could describe the deep ache and yearning to achieve what God called and laid upon us. The burden has to come from the same Source we received from, when we were called – directly from God!

Gathering leaders before God often to intercede for the people whom we are called to lead alone will trigger this sharing and spreading of this burden!

When Lord Jesus called out the names of 12 disciples out of His many followers, it wasn’t done to give a position with a title but to appoint them with His burden!

“I’ve come to start a fire on this earth—how I wish it were blazing right now! I’ve come to change everything, turn everything rightside up—how I long for it to be finished!…” Luke 12:49 MSG

Strengthen the weakness

Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” (Psalms 50:14, 15 NLT)

A real tough workout to build our inner person stronger is to make our soul to thank God in disappointments.

Our soul has no clue of what it is to be thankful to God when it goes thru’ disappointment and has nothing tangible to hold on to.

Our spirit on other hand is humbled and is in want of God to lift it up and ready to do anything God asks.

Let your spirit be bold and lead your soul when it is tired and worn out. Lead it in thankfulness of all that God has done.

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. Psalm 103: 2, 13-14

The Master Fisher

One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” (Mark 12:28 NLT)

Lord Jesus took every opportunity to reveal the truth to those who were around and really seeking, even though questions came from rebellious, religious and mere debaters.

When He answered, it was always final – no one could add a word, found a flaw or even a minute gap! They stood speechless irrespective of how they felt inside, either to fall & worship or be envious.

Isn’t our Lord same today! Still many debate, doubt and mock the truth – only resulting in getting more truth out, and bringing more glory and souls to His Kingdom!

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” 1 Corinthians 3:19

The Cornerstone

Then Jesus began teaching them with stories: “A man planted a vineyard. He built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country… The next servant he sent was killed. Others he sent were either beaten or killed, until there was only one left—his son whom he loved dearly. (Mark 12:1, 5, 6 NLT)

No better parable than this one tells clearly that Jesus was the last One sent to His people. “…until there was only one left—his son whom he loved dearly.”

The Son of God came to be betrayed, persecuted and crucified – treated worse than all the prophets sent before.

He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:10-12

Everyone who claim to be a prophet or messenger from God after Lord Jesus are only cults and false prophets.

This explains why those so called ‘prophets’ were not persecuted but celebrated and had become icons of new religions and movements.

More of these false prophets are to come, let’s keep our eyes open!

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’
They will deceive many. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:4-5, 11-13

He quiets me down

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! (Psalms 43:5 NLT)

There is nothing powerful than our spirit that is awaken by believing in the finished work of Christ on the cross.

The soul is so uncontrollable at times; raging emotions, flooding thoughts and stormy willfulness – as a result we hate ourselves, lose all credibility and find ourselves so foolish.

Yet, all the while, the renewed spirit in us wait quietly trusting the Lord to comfort, bring the understanding and calm us down.

If there is no prayer that could comfort us, let’s say the name of Jesus repeatedly – this will make us fall in love with Him. His perfect love then will cast out all our fears and quiets our soul!

Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me. Psalm 131:2

Yoke? Make it light.

One day some Pharisees and teachers of religious law arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They noticed that some of his disciples failed to follow the Jewish ritual of hand washing before eating. (Mark 7:1, 2 NLT)

Usually people who are good for nothing and don’t have anything to do in their lives, look at every good things in a wrong way and accuse all the time.

Lord Jesus never allowed such ridiculous wrong/erroneous accusers around Him or His disciples. In fact, He spoke straight to them that they’re not of God and warned His disciples then and there never to listen to such or become religious like them.

We all have to be careful not to become self-righteous and proud, resulting in narrow mindedness and foolishness to argue with God Himself about the way things ought to work.

Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too greator too awesome for me to grasp. Psalm 131:1

Keep me burning!

Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out. (Leviticus 6:13 NLT)

Doesn’t matter what we do or don’t in a day, our everyday calling is to submit before God with the fear that He is our Lord. We should never become cold and indifferent to Who He is!

It wasn’t easy for God to find us, save us and deliver us. The fire (His Spirit, the reverence for God) in us came from Him and it is our responsibility to keep it burning – we must spend time to guard it, feed it and use it.

Reason, by letting the fire go – we can’t start a new fire when we want it, that would be a strange fire not fit to please Him.

Keeping the fire on the altar is the only declaration/confession we could do daily to show that we serve God irrespective of our situation and feelings.

Listening and yielding to Holy Spirit is the only supply to keep the fire burning.

God is faithful, one of these days He will stir it up and we will see His glory!

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. Acts 2:2-4
