God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful. 1 Thessalonians 5:24
Just the way God didn’t weighed us if we were worthy enough to be saved by the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ, but saved us sinners by grace – He doesn’t guarantee our salvation by our strictest holy works and cleanliness.
But He guarantee by His Spirit breathed in us!
The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. Ephesians 1:14
It is a pride to think we are overcoming temptations and keeping the flesh clean. It will be a trap to fall soon as it exalts above the finished work of the Cross of Christ in our lives.
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Let’s boast about our weaknesses not our strengths. You’re far more stable laying flat than standing strong.
There he (Jesus) told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.” Luke 22:40
Prayer is the only sign that we are dependent on God, and is a major factor that draws the line between being self-confident and God-confident.
There is no way a man/woman could conquer his/her temptation in self-confidence, when a perfect opportunity is present.
Any temptation would automatically fade away when there is no opportunity.
Also, one could be deceived to think that he/she is an overcomer because they could let go of an opportunity, only failing to realize that there was no temptation yet.
If Jesus who was born of the Spirit had to rely on His prayer life to escape temptation, how much discipline of prayer (God-dependent) life we need to escape those perfect opportunities!
Let’s be aware of our design, our sinful nature and our propensities and be mindful of praying specifically for strength to handle temptations in God-confidence when the temptations are around; lest we fall.
We are only weaker the moment we think we are stronger.
“… don’t let us yield to temptation” (complete Lord’s prayer Matthew 6:9-13).
